Politeness.

Rising civilisations are marked by politeness. Failing civilisations are brutish and rude.

Is your country becoming more polite or more rude?

It is interesting to note that the societies that are most economically successful are also those who are most noted for there manners. I am talking here of Britain (until about 30 years ago) and Japan (until more recently). I have always found Germans to be polite even today. Furthermore we find the ruling groups within these societies are more polite than those they rule.

Both photon are of Oxford, a very polite city despite being packed with outsiders most of the year. The ambiance of the city itself encourages this.

It is natural that this is so. Societies where people willingly help one another will always work better than those who do so with a grudge and good manners make this possible.
