Many people choose to become slaves because freedom is hard work. It involves thinking and it involves moral risk. The free human being takes responsibility for their actions and tries to do good in a world. The slave takes no such risks. He follows orders and is not responsible for his own unhappiness or the unhappiness of others. The hands of the powerless are always clean.
The Manosphere guys sometimes talk of the self ownership of the soul. This strikes a chord with me. Self ownership is the foundation of freedom but it is also a burden and a responsibility. Gurus and con men always stand ready to carry this load. How easy it would be to let them carry the weight!
There is nothing free about freedom. We must pay with the sweat of thinking.
