Getting fit for free.

Our civilization spends half its time replacing physical work with automation and the other half in developing new forms of exercise and diet.
Here is gradual weight loss for the lazy.

One of the easiest ways to save time and money is to build exercise into ones daily life so that one remains reasonably thin and healthy without spending time or money in the gym.

The first thing we must do is get some realistic expectations. We cannot becomes body builders in this way but we can lose some fat so that a suit hangs properly. It is quite possible to add five years to life by doing the things I describe.

The next thing is to know yourself. I am physically lazy and no amount of guilt will make me run up a flight of steps unless a hornets nest is found at the bottom.

This means that my own personal fitness plan is very gentle. I walk a little more than I did and I have banned myself from using lifts. Amazingly, I am losing weight even though I continue to eat at McDonald's.

I have cultivated a taste for Moroccan tea (which has slimming effects) and am eating less red meat than I did. All of these things add up to more than you would think.

Be patient. This is not a crash diet. next year you will be thinner than today. The important thing is that you will keep it off.

Both photographs are of Holborn in London. Simply wandering around and looking at these things will burn calories.

  1. Red meat is good for you. Full of vitamins and protein.
