TV makes us stupid.

George Orwell wrote of a nightmare world in which citizens were watched over and numbed by TV screens that could never be switched off.

He never dreamt we might do this of our own free will.

Beware our own passivity!

Oxford and the City. One alternative to the TV is actively noticing our surroundings. The advantage is that we acquire the habit of actively seeking things to see.

Watching TV makes us stupid. Passivity puts our active will to sleep in a most horrible way. It is possible to spend an evening in this way and have no recollection of what was watched. A living death!.

The alternative is to download only those programs that are of interest and add something to our lives. Cancel the TV licence and open a savings account. It is legal to watch recorded TV. Only the live broadcast requires a licence.
